ST. PAUL PARISH SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC PROGRAM

The St. Paul Parish School Athletic Program offers a variety of sports to 7th and 8th grade students. Students who choose to participate on a St. Paul Parish School team are held to high academic standards.

Fall Sports:

Girls Volleyball:

September - October

Open Gym- Aug. 28 & 30

The girls’ volleyball season starts the year. Volleyball coaches encourage girls with or without experience to play on the St. Paul Parish School volleyball team. Becoming part of a team teaches students many life skills and increases fitness.

February: Prepare for St. Paul Tournament

The 7th and 8th grade girls have the opportunity to represent St. Paul Parish School on the hardwood. The girls’ season occurs during the months of November and December (they meet before the tournament in February to refresh their skills). Basketball is a tradition at St. Paul Parish School and the girls learn basketball skill and team building skills that last a lifetime.

Winter Sports:

Boys Basketball: January - February

The boys’ basketball season starts in January and continues through February. The boys and girls participate in the St. Paul Parish School Tournament, which is held at Marist High School. This tournament, which is rich in tradition, has been a place for Oregon Catholic School basketball teams to meet for 38 years. Two highlights of the tournament for student participant are the tournament Mass held at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by a dance in the St. Paul Parish School gym.

Spring Sports:

Boys and Girls Track: April - May

In April and May the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are invited to join the St. Paul/O’Hara track team. Students practice at Marist High School, and participate in meets around the area. Students are recognized for improving their personal track skills. Physical fitness and being part of a team are important concepts students learn through participation in track. The season ends with the district tournament, which is held at one of the high schools.

All St. Paul Parish School sports are part of the Sky-Em Youth League, which is comprised of a group of local schools in the surrounding areas. Participation in school-sponsored sports is a great opportunity to represent St. Paul Parish School with pride, to learn a variety of life and team skills, and to learn what it means to be a student-athlete.
